Vegans: What gave you that final “push”?
What was “the final straw” for each of you that made you decide to go vegan? Obviously we all respond to different motivators…was it the dairy industry? Eggs? Leather? Just curious, and thanks for sharing….
It was a combination of many things. I saw a video and researched the cruelty of dairy production. I also did my environmental research project on the ecological impact of dairy production. The sheer volume or resources consumed and wasted produced boggled my mind.
I also lost faith in the free range labels. The severe lacking free range guidelines and laws also led me to lose faith in the free range system, and stop eating eggs.
I didn’t own much leather to begin with, but after viewing some videos and doing some research on not only the cruelty involved in leather production, but also the human exploitation of poorer communities the use of heavy metals and carcinogens in their production and the environmental impact of leather production, I simply couldn’t buy it with a clean conscience.

Punch it in, throw it from a height of 12 feet, roll in it on hard concrete or smooth marble, and spot the sea shell like trendy design from anywhere. Humans have always traveled the earth and to travel you need something to carry your belongings. This is true from the time of the first humans. Prehistoric man was nomadic and traveling was the way of life. Prehistoric men made use of rudimentary wood-ribbed backpack which supported a leather bag.
Till the time the Roman Empire arrived stone and concrete roads were in existence and people had begun to travel for tourism. Romans packed their belongings in what may be the world’s first suitcases.
Refinement continued to come in the models of luggage. By the 17th century, there was a need of baggage which could withstand inclement weather and years of use on unpaved roads. Trunk, a.k.a traveling chest or ‘donkey box’ was the popular choice for this. Woods such as Cedar, Oak, and Pine were used to construct trunks. Classy trunks came covered with hides such as deer, horse or cowhide. Coverings also included paper, canvas, plain or embossed tin. Brass ornaments such as tacks, nails, and locks were used to decorate the trunks.
Humans look out for constant innovation and eventually the trunks started to become heavy and cumbersome. This led to the introduction of the modern suitcase. It was cheaper and lighter. Made out of plastic, cloth, vinyl or leather, it could retain its shape.
Ultimately the need came to do away with expending energy in carrying the weight of the suitcase around. So now we have built-in wheels for a much easier maneuverability: two in-line wheels for straight drag-around, or four multi-directional wheels that can spin. Telescopic handles were added for handling and transfer.
The innovation should continue and when it comes to bags and suitcases Samsonite is the pioneer. . Cosmolite is the most modern suitcase made out of the CURVA thermoplastic material and this technique (uniquely used by Samsonite) gives incredible strength.
Wherever humankind may wander, be assured he/she will have suitcases along for the ride. With a travel companion like Samsonite Cosmolite, life on the run becomes much easier.

I think Voyagers is the right name. The actor who killed himself was Jon Erik Hexum and what happened is he was on the set of a new show and he was playing around with a prop gun. He put the gun to his temple, thinking that because it was loaded with blanks it would be safe, but the concussion from the gun when he pulled the trigger with it against his temple was enough to kill him. I remember when it happened and that is what the papers reported.
