Multi Colored
How can I make those little multi-colored food cubes seen in Star Trek the original series.?
They’re the type of food the crew would eat. When I say multi-colored, I mean multi colored. And no they’re not Jell-O.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
But I can tell you how to produce a cube of food that is multi-colored.
Depending on how the cubes were colored, choose a cake mix. Choose a jar of colored sprinkles.
Follow directions on mix to make 2 square cakes (easier to cut into cubes than the rectangular cake) Stir in the sprinkles… at least 3 or so Tablespoons of them.
Pour into square cake pans, bake until done.
OR
pick white or yellow mix
make batter as directions dictate
pour batter into different small bowels
drop liquid food coloring into each bowel to create colors
pour (trying to keep the amounts even) into 2 square cake pans
swirl dyed batter to achieve desired color combinations
add sprinkles for added effects
Once the cakes have baked and cooled, cover each cake pan with a plate, serving side down, and carefully turn the cake pan over, thus “dumping” the cake gently onto the plate. Use another plate on the bottom to turn it “right side up”. If the cake has risen a lot in the middle, take a bread knife and cut it level with the edge (you can also do this by using cheese wire or string and pulling it through the cake). Eyeball the cake to see how you need to cut it to resemble the right proportions of the cubes from the series. It may need cut in half through the cake (thus creating two thin squares per each cake that need to be cut in a grid pattern to create cubes) or it may be best to cut it into proportional cubes after just slicing the top off. I would tell you more specifically if I knew about how big the cubes were.
To cut the cake, consider chilling it in the freezer for straighter cuts. No matter what use a sharp knife and be sure to cut evenly, an electric knife would be very helpful with that. You could “draw” lines out with a tooth pick in advance.
You can definitely get a lot of different colors and textures by adding the dyes, diced dried or minced fresh fruit, grains, cracker/cookie, raisins etc crumbled into the batter. After cutting the cakes into the appropriately sized cubes you could frost them or probably preferably pour a simple thin glaze (recipe below) over each cube.

Simple Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon butter/marg
2 tablespoons milk
Mix the powdered sugar with the vanilla and butter, and half the milk. Then add more milk a teaspoon at a time, until it is thin enough to drizzle cake. Once you’ve iced your cake, it’s best to let it stand for one or two hours.
To make chocolate icing, add two tablespoons cocoa powder when you mix the powdered sugar and follow the rest of the recipe above.

The pattern for the Multi-Color Personalized Bench back is an attractive diamond pattern. Other models / patterns are available for the bench. We also offer the Multi-color Perforated U-Leg Bench design and the Multi-color Perforated Bench design. Sizes and weights of theses models are similar to the diamond pattern design. The diamond pattern bench is available in four, five, six, and eight foot lengths. The four foot bench weighs two hundred and forty-one pounds. The five foot bench weighs two hundred and sixty-six pounds. The six foot bench weighs two hundred and ninety-one pounds. The eight foot bench weighs three hundred thirty-four pounds. Custom bench lengths can be ordered.
Our Multi-Color Personalized Bench is constructed from heavy duty eleven gauge steel. The diamond pattern model has cast iron legs 1 1/2 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches thick. Other pattern models will feature different legs. All models are protected by a tough and durable thermoplastic covering and have pre-drilled mounting holes in the bench legs. The benches can be easily mounted utilizing one of three standard mounting methods portable mount, surface mount, or in-ground mount. The benches are available in sixteen attractive colors and include black, red, orange, yellow, green, bk-green, teal, blue, navy, purple, burgundy, brown, beige, sandstone, gray, and granite.
The Multi-Color Personalized Bench is protected from rust and corrosion by a thermoplastic coating. This coating is the latest technology available for protecting metal products. It is far superior to the traditional paint coatings of the past. The powder coating is actually a plastic or plastic-epoxy coating that is blown on metal and adheres strongly with the use of opposite electrical charges. The coating is then cured or heated and forms a tough, durable skin that completely covers the metal product. The coating will not crack or peel and is easily repaired if damaged. The damaged area is heated with an industrial heat gun and the coating will melt slightly and rebind itself. Usually the repaired area is virtually unnoticeable. In addition, the thermoplastic coating has poor adhesion properties with spray paint. If any bench is spray painted by vandals then the paint can be easily removed with a standard cleaner. Overall, thermoplastic coatings have many advantages over conventional coatings and will extend the longevity of the metal product or bench into the decades.

What website had a mosaic of news headlines in multi-colored blocks?
I stumbled across a website a few years ago that was essentially a huge fullscreen flash animation of current news headlines. Each headline was in its own colored rectangle, and the blocks of headlines ranged in size from large to small depending on the prevalence of the news they contained.
