ok, despite what some people are saying this is a bad idea. If its not a really heavy bag ( less than 85lb) the beam WILL be able to support the bag itself, BUT when you start to hit it is when the problems start happening. If your talking your ceiling, say in your basement, that is usally ok, Typically basement floor joists are very thick, but anywhere else could gice you a bit of trouble. Spend the money for a bag stand, its well worth it, and you can get a few that arent that expensive.
